What is contest season all about?
The Toastmasters Speech
Contest are competitive events
organized by Toastmasters
International, a global nonprofit
that helps individuals develop
public speaking and leadership
skills. These contests are held at
various levels—club, area,
division, district, and
ultimately international—and
they showcase some of the best
speakers within the organization.
Why Does Toastmasters Conduct Speech Contests?
▸ Skill Development: Enhances public
speaking, critical thinking, and stage
presence.
▸ Recognition: Offers a platform for
members to gain visibility and
accolades.
▸ Networking: Connects members
across clubs and regions.
▸ Personal Growth: Builds confidence
and resilience through competition.
▸ Leadership: Contests Functionaries
apply leadership skills to ensure a
fair contest for all participants

What Contests Are Being Held This Year?
International Speech Contest
Open to members who have completed
Level 2 in at least one Pathways path.
Speeches are 5–7 minutes long and must be
original and inspirational.
Winners at the district level may advance to
the Toastmasters World Championship of
Public Speaking.
Contestants are encouraged to utilize all
aspects of public speaking
Tall Tales Contest
Focuses on exaggerated, fictional stories
with a humorous twist.
Open to all club members in good standing
Speeches are 3 – 5 minutes long and must
be at least 75% original
Contestants are encouraged to utilize all
aspects of public speaking
