Theme of World Health Day 2025
• The World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates World
Health Day on 7th April every year, with a new theme that
highlights the goals for advancing health and addressing
global health challenges. This theme reflects the collective
effort of the world to tackle pressing health issues.
• As with every year, the theme for World Health Day 2025
by WHO is 'Healthy Beginning, Hopeful Future.' This theme
emphasizes the importance of a healthy start, symbolizing
a fresh, positive beginning toward better health for all.
Helping Maternal and Newborn Babies
Survive and Stay Healthy
• It is deeply saddening, but you will be surprised to know that according to WHO
data, more than 3 lakh pregnant women lose their lives every year due to
complications during childbirth.
• Additionally, about 20 lakh children worldwide lose their lives before reaching
the first stage of life, i.e., before they turn one month old. On top of that, around
20 lakh newborns are born stillborn, which is a deeply concerning number.
• If this issue is not addressed seriously, the numbers could continue to rise.
However, if proper action is taken, the death of newborns could be prevented
every 6 seconds.
• Unfortunately, 4 out of 5 countries are still far from meeting the goals for
improving maternal survival by 2030.
Campaign Goals
• 1. Raise awareness of the gap in maternal and newborn survival,
emphasizing the need to prioritize women's long-term well-being.
• 2. Advocate for effective investments that improve women's and
children's health.
• 3. Encourage collective action to support parents, as well as
health professionals who provide critical care.
• 4. Provide useful health information related to pregnancy,
childbirth, and the postpartum period.
